No, the child may pass out, but once s/he does his/her body will take a breath.

It is another form of a temper tantrum. He obviouly didnt get his way, so he resorts to hurting himself. Sounds like little boy needs some discpline. It is better to make them mad at you now for making them mind that letting it go, and they end up in the Pen when they are older. No, he will not die. He will pass out and resume breathing. You may want to see a theripist about this behavior. Maybe something is underlying these tantrums. While he is doing this, act like it doesnt bother you, and leave the room. That is not the result he is wanting from this behavior and it may nip it in the bud--fast.

when the child does this again throw a glass of cold water in his face and spank his butt not to hurt or beat but--  show him,( he or she) is not in charge.be the parent.good luck!

No.  If the he held it long enough he would pass out and his body would start breathing on its own.  because if he were unconscious then he wouldn't be able to voluntarily hold his breath.
