  1. I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and I highly recommend it. I have kids, pets, and a husband who works in construction, and it gets all the dirt/hair/etc. up with no problems. It has a switch to turn the beater bar off so I can use it on my floors without harming them. The suction from the accessory hose is great! Plus it's reasonably priced. Consumer Reports rated it a Best Buy, and rated it over Dyson. Hope this helps. Good luck!

  2. I have an Orrick, and love it. It is light weight so it doesn't feel like a workout everytime you clean. But it still does a good job. You can get a refurbished one on e-bay for a decent price.

  3. We bought a Hoover with a removable canister that can be emptied instead of having to purchase replacement bags. The canister is clear so you can know when to dump it. We paid maybe $130.00 @ Sears a few years ago. We also bought a 5 gallon (I think it's 5) Shot Vac from Target for $25.00 so the kids can vaccum the stairs without having to try and lug an uprite up stairs while trying to vaccum.

  4. I LOVE MY DYSON!!!!!

It works AWESOME!!  It never clogs...and it doesnt need a bag and it is easy to empty the canister.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!  And it has a 5 year warranty!

  5. I am not sure if you want some referral as to where to go buy one of if would like info about the best vacuums available.

I find the Kirby vacuum to be one of the best, they last for a long time, the belt is easy to change, the hepa filter bags pretty good, and the attachments are pretty handy, specially the shampooer. It is a pricey machine, if you can afford a new one go for it, but you can also buy an refurbished older model they are just as good (they last for a long time) just look at your city's yellow pages you will find used vacuum stores.

I've heard the Dyson is good but I never had one, can't say much.

The Hoover wind tunnel is also pretty good.

  6. Anything that  has a bag or filters as all vacuums do (even the new rainbow has a so called HEPA filter)but they all do the same thing and that is blow dust, germs, and bacteria back into the air (and that funky smell they all put out) creating an environment that is unhealthy for our families that is one of the reasons we have so many people with allergies today. Germs and bacteria grows in warm, dark, dirty places our vacuum is a perfect place to grow them. I recommend watching a presentation of the Oceanblue cleaning system, no filters just water cause you see anything with a filter will lose airflow therefore reducing the cleaning ability of cleaning and also a filter allows germs and bacteria to grow on it and when we turn it on it contaminates our home. 7. I have a Dyson two long haired cats and a long haired dog and it works great.
