Could anyone explain to me about complimentry dance movements?

A complementary move can be one that 'complements' another by being similar.  For example - if you were choreographing a duet and one dancer held a position with her arms held out to the side - stood up - you may instruct the other dancer to do the same with her arms but knelt down in front.  So the shape is similar but not exactly the same between the dancers - but the similarity between the two shapes 'complement' each other....  does that make sense??  Its been a while since I used this technique - but think that is what it means - although not 100% certain...

Do you mean complementary (with an e not an i)?  Complementary means that its addition makes something complete; where as Complimentary means making nice remarks about something.  I suspect that complementary dance moves are ones that make the dance complete and whole (maybe so it fits a theme or style?), over and above the basic steps.
