Question:

Could anyone help me on the law in Dubai over unmarried families?

My fiance is an architectural technician and is looking at doing work in Dubai because of the amazing nature of work there. The experience would be fantastic for us as a family and would be great for his CV.

I am his fiancee and we have a 2 and a half year old son, we are engaged to marry but due to us both being young we are not planning on marrying for a few years.

Having looked at local law in Dubai I am led to believe that if we got to Dubai and were caught living together unmarried with a child I could be arrested and either deported or locked up. I think this is because our child is proof we have slept together out of wedlock. I am also led to believe that even if we were to marry now there would still be a problem because the marriage date would be after the birthday of our son.

I do hope that this is not the case as I would very much like the experience, I respect other cultures laws and would not like to knowingly offend anyone by breaking the law.

Many thanks

  1. Do not even think about going to Dubai if you are not married.  You cannot get a dependent visa if you are not married.  You and the baby have to remain in your home country while your fiance is working there.

Do not attempt to go to Dubai under any circumstances whatsover!
