  1. I think about $500 to $1000 per 2 weeks depending upon the way you spent your money.

  2. Whereabouts?

  3. 1 dollar equals 3.50 soles in peru so i believe that it would be like 300 dollars for the hotel.

  4. In Peru, as elsewhere, you get what you pay for.  You can get a meal for as cheap as a buck, or a pizza for about the same as in the US or an elegant meal for $30-100.  You can stay in Lima in a bedbug ridden hotel for $5 a night, or in a serviceable 3 star for $45 or a 5 star for $250-500 per night.

To see the highlights of Peru you would want to visit:

Amazon rainforest: you can stay at a jungle lodge close to Iquitos for $10 a day and see nothing or experience the best the Amazon has to offer for $100+ a day with the world famous Amazonia Expeditions.

Cusco/Machu Picchu:  In Cusco stay at sleazy places for $20 a night or nice places at $60 a night or very nice places at $250 a night.  Go to archaeological sites with a guidebook or pay for a reputable, knowledgeable guide.  Go by backpacker train to Machu Picchu or pay for the Vistadome and get a great view of the Urubamba Canyon.

Any way, I think you're getting the idea....you get what you pay for...a cheap experience or a great experience.

  5. In Lima,

A 3 or 4 star hotel could be from 15 to 40 dollars a night.

Food could cost you from 8 to 30 dollars a day depending on where you eat.

For transportation, a taxi could cost you from 2 to 4 dollars to move to any point in Lima (Just make sure you convince the driver that you don't have more money than that so that he doesn't try to charge you more)

For partying, the most expensive clubs shouldn't charge you more than 10 dollars for cover (small beers are like 3 dollars). A regular one, would charge only 2 or 3 dollars or it would actually be free as long as you buy their beer (which is cheap)

    Outside Lima,

just take the prices for Lima and divide them by two (unless you go to places with high tourist affluence where the prices are as high as in Lima)

Notice that all these prices could be higher (or lower) depending on the quality of service you are looking for.

    Have fun

  6. It depends. Are you going "backpacker style", regular or VIP.

Looking at the mid-range in Lima. A hotel will be about 50 bucks a night. Food would be about 60 soles (local currency) if you don't get extremely fancy, a day (about 19 bucks). That means about US$500 a week on food and lodging if you play it right.

Hotels in Cuzco are more expensive, so plan on 80 to 100 bucks a night there for a mid-range hotel. Food per day will also be slightly more expensive in the "good" restaurants (I mean restaurants a foreigner would and should eat in, not the towns-people ones), so instead of the 19 bucks in Lima you might spend 23 to 25 bucks.
