Question:

Could anyone possibly suggest a suitable training programme for athletics, middle distance( 800m and 1500m)?

i'd be really grateful, quite stuck at the minute as my coach isn't being too much help so it would be great if anyone with any knowledge in this field could help me out I have some important competitions coming up and so the weekly training session is no longer enough!

  1. for 800 running:

    speedwork, run twenty 200s in practice at 40 seconds. lunges, hills, and that sort stuff build good 800 endurance.

    1500:run speedwork and run fartleks. 1 min jog, 1 min sprint, 2 min jog and so on to 5 minutes then back down to 1 minute


  2. 300m horseshoes, 400 repeats, and pyrimids for speed. Through in some fartlecks for endurance. Horseshoe is 300m, walk 100m, then 300m again, then stop. reapeat 5-8 times. pyrimids of 200m,400m,800m,1200m,1600m, and back down.
