  1. I like Browns at the top of park street. If you like pasta then ASK halfway up is really good and has a lovely wine list and atmosphere (romantic!) also sergios on frogmore street down by the skate rink is good. I had a date there and it was fab. (the meal was better than the date but you cant have it always!)

  5. Cafe Rouge near the top of Park Street.  Really tender steak, and the duck confit is to die for.

  6. Hotel du Vin has a nice restaurant and good food.

  7. Quartier Vert on Whiteladies Road (I think) is ace. Not hideously pricey, and Rick Stein says it's one of his favourite restaurants. So there. www.quartiervert.co.uk
