I would really appreciate it if you could, as I was supposed to read it over the holidays for my English GCSE, but I didn't get the time to do so.

Thank you.

  1. Holden Caulfield is the protagonist and narrator of the story. Holden is seventeen when he tells the story, but was sixteen years old when the events took place. His narration begins with his expulsion (for academic failure) from a school called Pencey Prep. He is intelligent and sensitive, but Holden narrates in a cynical and jaded voice. He finds the hypocrisy, "phoniness", and ugliness of the world around him unbearable.

  2. there is no way i'm going to do your assignment for you, however I will suggest two things:

    1) Go to this website: http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/catcher/

You can find plot summaries, character analysis, important quotes...

    2) I would strongly suggest that you read it, not necessarily because it was your assignment, you can probably get by on that without reading it, but because it is an AMAZING book. Everyone can truly find something to relate to in this novel. (Also, it is a very quick and easy read. If you have one day to just sit and read- you could easily finish it.)
