  1. I agree with nikon guy, it looks like one of the older 'F' models. It's not the FG,ect...

  2. Ah!!! I knew he'd get it. That is the good old Nikon F2 series. One of the few cameras that showed 100% coverage in the viewfinder.

I had F2AS. Same body, but different viewfinder (the black thing on the top). It was built like a tank--and it was one of a kind. Its shutter speed setting was totally variable. This means it can be set between, for example, 60 to 125!

  3. It is a Nikon F2, 35 mm SLR.  The lens looks like the Nikkor 50 mm f/1.4, a very common lens sold with the Nikon's of the time (early 1970's)

  4. As most have recognized,  that is the Nikon F2, built from the very early 70's up through 1980 along with the standard 50mm lens.     It was the  professional / top of the line model SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Nikon manual film camera.   It was so reliable, sturdy and dependable that it was one of the favorite cameras  taken into the Viet Nam by photo  journalists to cover the effects of the war.   The camera has an electronic Photomic viewfinder with an exposure meter that was enter changeable as new models were developed.  It also allows for the interchange of a number of viewing screens.   It came in two colors,  chrome and black... of which the black was always and still is the most revered.   The F2 can still bring a fair amount of money even at its age as it is considered both collectible and desirable.  Though the Canon AE-1 was my first new manual SLR,  the Nikon F2, for which I found used in 1994,  was my second and after I got used to it,  it was the film camera of my choice  ... so much so,  that I searched for and bought a back up as well as found one for my daughter.  If you are thinking about finding a great manual film camera...  I would not hesitate one second before buying an F2.  Just one thing...   as time has gone by,  many of the viewfinders do not work and there are not many parts to repair with with, so I would make sure you have that tested.   Hope that helped.

  5. Tough from that pic.  My guess is it looks like an original FG.  The lens would probably be a standard 30-50 lens; however, it IS possible without seeing a better pic, that it may be a macro lens.  Sorry I couldn't help more.

  6. I knew it wasn't an FM, I have 3

I was going to guess one of the older "F" bodies,

    just didn't know which one?

  7. It looks like a nikon FM (fully manual) model... Probably a 50mm lens...Pretty standard.... It's older metal body/construction!  They don't make them like that anymore!

*You can check out FM models on ebay just type Nikon FM and it will show a bunch of different models/styles that may fit...
