  1. Benalmadena Costa is a typical resort with lots of high rise hotels and apartment blocks..

There is a huge marina complex ...with shops, bars cafes and restaurants.

There is a large ex pat community and at this time a lot of them will be there....there's plenty of day and nightlife activity for younger tourists.

  2. Very urban, nice beach.  There is a busy coast road running through, but slightly away from the beach.

    Went there last May.

  3. I live two towns further on....

Benalmádena is a lovely town on the Costa del Sol...It actually consist of 3 parts:

Benalmádena Pueblo, the original village up in the hills (great views of the coast, quiet streets, some nice restaurants and a pretty little church).

Benalmádena Costa, the part that is on the coastline and has grown enormously...

Arroyo de La Miel, located between both, also has mushroomed up in the last 25 years.

In Benalmádena Costa you will find a nice aquarium "Sea World" that is down by the port area.

Puerto Marina is a lovely pleasure area...with many restaurants and a good sized yacht harbour.

Another place is SELWO Marina that has both a dolphin show and a parrot show...(it's next to the Parque de la Paloma, which is a lovely place for a walk in itself),

Further up, in Arroyo de la Miel, you have TIVOLI Amusement Park, and across from its entrance, is the cable car that goes to the top of the hill behind the park, where you can find pony rides and a bird of prey show...

Besides all this, Benalmádena has some lovely beaches, (including one naturist area at the far end of the township just off the main road N-340). There are dozens of good restaurants, pubs and even some nightclubs in the area. There is also a good street market on friday mornings in the Tivoli parking lot.

Benalmádena is a very nice place to visit!

  4. I agree with Tony, sorry. When you go away on holiday the whole point of it is to relax and do something different.

I´ve lived in Spain for the last twelve years and I've only set foot in the Costa del Sol twice. It's not what I want for myself, but that's my choice!!!

It really depends what on what YOU want to do there. If it 's for a holiday in southern Spain, well you could do better.Check out the following places and see for yourself.

Nerja, Coin, Barbate, Los Caños de Meca, Tarifa,Rota, Puerto de Santa Maria,Grazelema, Conil, Jerez.

Benalmadena is usually packed with Ex Pats, Irish/ English bars  and restaurants, all with SKY boxes so you'd never miss the footie or rugby.

If you want to live there and you basically want a home away from home with the sun you may be very content there.

You could spent years on the Costa del Sol and never learn Spanish or mix with the locals. Which is a great shame.

  5. Typical Spanish resort, full of brits with no money to spend - Benidorm revisited!  There are far better places to go!

  6. Hi it's fab to much to do for all ages You need about 3 months to fit it all in iam going back for a month in June. Hope you have a very good time. MIKE D

  7. whoops,i don't know wether to agree with tony or give you my opinion,! i'l give you mine sod it.I own a little apt in benal and go 3 or 4 x a year like tony said its full of ex pats and irish bars but if you look around thiers plenty of authentic spanish bars and tapas bars,if you travel 5 mind inland to arroyo de la miel (stream of honey) theres lots of little back streets with good tavernas and such.go up to the lakes for a day out its eye opening up in the mountains and only cost a few £'s. 1 bit of advice i'll give you is stay uot of the english bars near the beach the prices are  ripoff and if you go to arroyo try to find the plazza de espania (the fountain square) cheap little bar come restaurant called lolly's and then go to the bar next door but 1 for coffee and brandy a great night out.im there end of june till mid aug ,carn't wait.ps if your into disco's go to the 24 hr square  loads of lively head banging stuff but be carefull, lots of diffrent cultures hence a few fights break out

  8. i've driven through it.

it has a nice harbour and is sufficiently far enough away from torremolinos to be considered ok.

    not much info i'm afraid!!

  9. I've lived in Nueva Andalucia and Mijas Costa and I stay well clear of Benalmadena Costa. There are nicer places to stay on the Costa Del Sol. As someone has mentioned, Benalmadena Pueblo is a lovely place away from the coast. The whole area has become way to busy for my liking.

I now live east of Málaga where the scenery is beautiful and a person has room to breath. I consider Nerja to be the best town on the coast. It has lovely safe beaches and good bars and restaurants. It has retained the feel of a typical Andalucian town.

  10. It's just down the road from Costa Del Sol, it's what you want out of your holiday that counts.

There is a very good and cheap bus service between the two resorts, for the busy night life touristy resort visit the Costa del Sol, if you want a bit more peace go to Benalmadena.

  11. Have a look through this lot and see what they thought
