i worked in a factory for almost 20 years, factorys are very noisy places. I worked on a boom-pop -whiz- bang machine. It was next to a similiar machine, and they weren't even sychronized to the same beat. Resulting in lots of cakaphony. Also could machines that squiled be made to change the frequency of the sounds now and then to humming noise in different chords. perhaps musical factorys could make a pleasing sound instead of noise.

  1. NOISE by definition is unwanted and undesigned sound.

Engineers try hard to eliminate noise - not to create them.  It is just that when you have so many machines (like in a factory), they all add up.

Get noise canceling headphones.  They REALLY work well.

    Good Luck...

  2. Yeah they can be made to emit a type of pluck sound like a music box makes but be careful of what you wish for.  Even your favorite song would drive you crazy if you had to listen to it 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

    I'll stick with the boom-pop-whiz-bang.
