Question:

Could having an abortion at 8 weeks @ planned parenthood cause blocked tubes?

If so how common is this? I'm asking out of curiosity..so..dont bash me> ive neve had a one. thanks.

  1. Abortion does carry with it the risk of scarring of the uterine wall, but this should not cause scarring (and thus blockage) of the fallopian tubes.  Post-operative infection could potentially cause scarring, as could other types of infection.  Scarring from STD infection, especially chlamydia and gonorrhea, is a very common cause of blocked fallopian tubes.


  2. Yes, because of scar tissue caused from the procedure.

  3. I have never heard of an abortion causing blocked tubes, but the best thing would be to call there and ask if that is a risk of abortion or not.
