  1. uhh, I don't know any kid opera stars...but go for it. You'll need weekly private voice classes though, and like everything, it'll be hard work.

  2. I highly recommend it mate. When I was your age my mum heard me sing she said I had a beautiful voice. My mother was a professional singing teacher and she taught me for a while then I was briefly taught by another woman then I found a very highly qualified singing teacher close to where I lived. I have been with her for 3 years and I have seen unbelievable results. Your voice can only get better if exercised and maintained. I can sing opera, rock, slow music and classical. I'm sure you can too.

  3. Kids your age can't/shouldn't sing opera. Instead, join a children's chorus. My brother is a part of my city's children's chorus and has been for several years now. Unfortunately, I didn't get into opera singing until I was 17 or 18, so I was never able to join a children's choir.

And if you decide you like it, I'd recommend getting a voice teacher when you're older.  It's not really necessary at your age, but once your voice starts to mature, you might want to look into it.

  4. You might be able to get into a children's chorus with your local opera company. Check their website.

As for becoming an opera singer, yes you need vocal training (opera singers train for years and years). Most voice teacher won't take students younger than about 14 though. Consider studying at a music conservatory for college and in your 20's you audition to be part of the many YAPs (Young Artist Programs) that are out there. Opera voices don't normally mature until their 30's so that's when you may start getting actual roles and then you may have 20-30 years of performance time. So, as you can see, that's at least 15 years of serious preparation leading up to it and that why there are really no such thing as "young opera singers".

(Charlotte Church and Emmy Rossum are not opera singers )

    Best of luck!!

  5. At 10 years old, you need to be really careful with your voice, because if you strain it too much just before or just after it breaks, you can wreck it. But I agree with the other contributions, get yourself into a childrens chorus, and, as your voice matures, you probobly will need a singing teacher, to help you with your technique and make the most of your range. Also, if you're in the UK, you'll need to probobly study at least A Level music, or achieve Grade 8 in an instrument or voice, or in theory to get into a conservatoire when you're 18. (Sorry, I don't know what qualifications you'd need in other countries =)) Best of luck with your singing! x
