Could i do this or is it against the law?

i know this will probably not ever happened but just think if america on the east coast was invaded and they evacuated civilans away from the war front and i sayed behind and fought as a civillin im 17 and ive had 3 Years of NJROTC so could i get charged with something?

and no america wont get invaded you dummy awnser please this is just a theoritycal question

If we’re getting invaded I think the Government will have bigger fish to fry. And seeing how an invasion on American soil is unprecedented I think any help they can get would be welcome no matter who it is. But in that event we would fall under martial law and yes as a civilian it would be illegal. So if we get invaded go to your nearest recruiter and tell them to sign you up and get your parents to sign a note.

You would be considered an insurgent or guerrilla warfare operator.

You would not be eligible to be treated according to the Geneva convention.

Since you wouldn't be a member of any armed force with a chain of command, would not be wearing a distinctive uniform and brandishing a weapon openly, you could be executed as an illegal combatant under the Laws of Land Warfare (Geneva Conventions).
