I'm only 13 and people do work experience at 15 but i really want to consider my options for work experience. I live in London and want to be an actress, would doing work experience at ealing studios help my career for when i'm older? for those of you who don't know what work experience is it's when you work somewhere for around 2 weeks to get the experience of being an adult in the working world is like

  1. Most people of work experience only get to see the boring bits.  I have worked on plays where a number of people have come for work experience.  In rehearsals they get to do things like photocopying and helping to move props and furniture.  Rehearsals are quite boring if you are not acting or have a specific job to do.  People who have had work experience on shows can rarely be given much to do as they are only around for a few days, so a lot of time is spent sitting in the dark watching other people work (or not if it is a quiet show).  I know that some places need students to be over a certain age (sometimes 18) and studying a particular course.  Get your school or parents to find out about work experience opportunities.  It won't necessarily help your career, but you might get an insight into how that part of the business works.
