1) Socrates, Plato and Aristotle were all Greek philosophers. People thought Socrates was discouraging the beliefs and values of the polis when he would question people about politics. Unfortunately in 399 B.C.E he was put to death on the charge of corrupting youth, and presenting new gods into the city. Although Socrates had a chance to escape, he did not. He refused because he had respect, and wanted to obey the laws. Unlike Socrates, Plato, pupil of Socrates was the first systematic philosopher that presented his philosophy in the format of dialogues. Like Socrates, Plato believed in Polis and all its values. In fact he found an academy, in 386 B.C.E. Except just like the Romans put Socrates to death, the Roman emperors closed down Plato’s academy. Just like Socrates Plato believed in polis and its values. Plato was devoted and loyal to the polis wanted people to be the same. Just like Plato was the pupil of Socrates, Aristotle was the pupil of Plato. His view on subjects like Plato was theological. However, unlike his master, Plato, Aristotle had a very different experience and his mind led him in a new direction. Aristotle also found his own school like his master called Lyceum, except that his academy took interest in gathering, organizing and analyzing.
