  1. This was just on the Yahoo! main page. People wait around and PAY PEOPLE TO WATCH YOUR INTERNET ACTIVITY.

She's probably going to end up firing you because she's obviously wasting money. You're at work to work. If you have free time, do something else. You're not getting paid to browse Yahoo!

  2. Absolutely they can.  Especially if their policy is not to use computers for personal use.

And just because your boss doesn't SEE you with the page up - if they want, they can look you computer use.  And erasing you "history" doesn't mean that an administrator can't very easily look up the internet history.

If you want that job, I would clean up your act.  Do your my space stuff when you're at home.

  3. as long as you get all your work done it should not be a problem

  4. Check with your state laws. It's possible that your employment could be terminated "at will". Pretty much means, that regardless of your status, or what work has been performed, your employer can terminate your employment at any time. However, they are not allowed to terminate based on discrimination of age, race, creed, religion, or sexual orientation.

  5. the last place i worked we had access to the internet but little did we know they could monitor what sites we were logging into. if it wasnt for work then they werent very happy even when all our work was done. be careful if they do realise they might not be happy that your checking these sites while at work

  6. haha

i shouldnt do if no one notices

  7. Check your contract many firms will sack you for personal use of the internet. The term 'use it but don't abuse it' springs to mind, just don't take the p**s.

  8. Yes. Your employer can also check your internet usage.

So it looks like it's just a matter of time before she finds out.

  9. If you are doing all that they ask you  there should be no problem unless you add to the bill. One thing though is there other tasks which you could do without being asked but ease the load. I have never known an office where their is not another job which could be done or looked at again with a different eye and it all adds to experience and to you being of value. What makes you so sure your Boss has not noticed. Some of them have eyes that go around corners

  10. You can be terminated for any reason, but that doesn't make it right. If you cannot sue them then you can at least collect unemployment for a year.

  11. h**l go for it! im in the office now and its the only thing that has stopped me from going mad!

If she hasnt already realised then she probabily wont as long as you get ur work done!

  12. Yes, you can. Your boss may find out and give you a warning, but she could also fire you for doing personal stuff at work. There are people who have been fired for emails, using the Net, etc. It is not considered "work", so it is like they are paying you to play. And then there are people who write personal emails or visit "questionable" sites, which can result in immediate firing.

I know you are getting your work done, but you are taking a chance. If I were the boss, I would think you could use more work if you have time to be on myspace, yahoo, etc. She could see you one day and start piling on more work.

  13. Yes. There was a recent article about people getting fired for using personal email at work. I'd check yourself. Plus, that isn't a great work ethic.

Basically, if you think that what you are doing is wrong it usually is.

  14. i dont see the problem as you are doing all your work but they are paying you to do work and not to go on yahoo haha. i also think there is a way that she can check up on your computer to see what youve been doing e.g. the history but you should be fine

    =]

  15. ..If you are punctual at your work place.. and a good employee then I don't think so that you would be fired..!
