  1. there are some that do well alone, there are very few for a 20 gallons and under, so I would look into a 30+ gallon, the bigger you go the more choices you will have.  For a 30 a Maroon clown, a dwarf lion fish, Wrasse, Basslet's, dwarf angelfish, goby's (there are many kinds)

Jawfish, plus stars and inverts, then 55 you could have an eel, or 75+ trigger fish, lion fish, some tangs but you will have to do your research into setting up a marine fishtank, what conditions the fish you want will need to thrive, food, lighting, salinity, water parameters, you will have to cycle the tank....pick your fish and while you are learning about your fish, get your tank cycled and ready to go.

  2. depends, if you get scholling fishes, you need at least five, but if you want to get other non schoolin gspecies, that is completely fine.

  3. Well first of all, set up your tank and let the water run. If it's

    5-10 Gallons= 1Day

    15-20 Gallons= 3Days

    30-40 Gallons= 6Days

    45-50 Gallons= 1Week

    55 and over= 1Month/31days

And fish dont like to be alone. So go out and buy another one or two fish to make it happy.

  4. Do you have a saltwater tank that is fully established (cycled)? How big is the tank? Are there any other live animals in there? What's your water parameters? We need to know all this information before I can tell you what animals to add.

EDIT: Saltwater tanks are VERY hard to maintain for beginners. One mistake could destroy the whole tank. Here's some links on how to set up saltwater tanks/what you'll need/how to maintain it:

  5. Yes you can have just one fish.  Salt water fish that are usually kept in tanks don't school so don't worry.

Just be sure your tank is cycled and ready to house.

Good luck with your new fish.  As always, feel free to email with additional questions
