Could i house my leopard gecko's in a fish tank?

I want to get a larger cage for my 2 leopard gecko's but the reptile ones are expensive. Could i house them in a fish tank?

Hi laurance you asked me how big you of a cage you needed I would say two leopard geckos would be okay in a 20 gallon tank and 3 should be housed in a 20 or 30 gallon

Yes. I had a lizard and made a terrarium out of a fish tank. i put a screen at the top so it would get air but not get out.

You realize that by the time you buy a screen top for your fish tank that it will be about the same price?  And also understand that screen tops are not made for all size fish tanks.  Fish tanks are also much heavier, so make sure you have something strong enough to hold it.

You may also want to consider splitting up your geckos.  They will be much happier by themselves and not being stressed out by one another.  Leos are solitary creatures and don't really want a companion.  Maybe think about just getting a second cage instead of a bigger one for both of them.

yes you could, but if you do i would recommend a heating lamp and also a heating pad that goes on the side or underneath the tank. the heating pad sticks to the tank. it never gets to hot or to cold. you can find them at any pet store. i have one on my bearded dragons cage. it really helps

there should be no problem if you have lights.  Go through regular cleaning procedure.

yes you can.  as long as the tank is big enogh and that clean it out very well... now leapord gekos are more active at night so long put good sand and buy a heatlight that is red so that does not bother there night cycle or just buy a reptile heating pad that goes under the tank that will work to. that is what i got my two on

as long as you rinse the tank out extremely good and it doesn't smell like fish.

and i hope your not thinking about putting them in the fish. because they geckos would probably curb stomp the fishes ***. or in the case gravel stomp.
