  1. Wendy C is absolutely correct.

There is no such thing as a family crest, a crest is part of a coat of arms, the adornment on the helmet.

If there ever was a coat of arms awarded to a man who's name is the same as yours, it belongs only to that man's descendants, NOT to everyone with the same name, you would have to prove descent from the original grantee to be allowed to use his arms.

  2. I found this for you,

    Loughman Name Meaning and History

American variant of an Irish name, perhaps Loughnane.

Perhaps also an Americanized spelling of German Lachmann.

    hope this helps.

  3. ?? Yahoo answers does not have family crests.. and can't display images, if they did.

I can google family crests for you.. however, it would be completely against my ethics to do that.

Family crests are purely an American misunderstanding, and contrary to accurate heraldry standards.  Coats of Arms are similiar to military medals.. ie that are given to a person, not a family.  Using them for coffee mugs, etc is completely a rip off.

Think about the wording of your question. if there ARE four of them, that, right there, tells you that they were issued to 4 PERSONS.  Is one of those your direct ancestor?? If you have not researched your ancestry,  how would you know which of the four is valid for YOU?

Genealogy is a tricky area.. where what you WANT to hear is not always the truth.  I would rather tell you the truth than mislead you. Someone else wants 10 pts, when they do NOT know the facts.. they can have them.
