Could i still get survivor benefits?

My father died in 2005 and i stopped getting the benefits in 2006 they told me i could still get the benefits if i go to colleg is that true

  1. Social security benefits - no. There are no special survivor benefits that assist children who are attending college. Once upon a time, benefits were available for college, but this has not been the case since 1981. Currently, benefits are only available to surviving children who are in primary or secondary schools.

    VA benefits - yes. If you are the son or daughter of a military veteran who died, or is permanently disabled as a result of a service-connected disability. Or if your parent is missing in action, or if your parent was forcibly detained by a foreign government while serving on military duty. For this benefit you should complete and submit VA Form 22-549 the  Application for Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance.
