Could i suffer with pcos?

i have been on loads of diets and have put loads weight on use be size 10 now shot up to size 16 i go gym 3 times a week for 2 hours and never lose no weight just seems im putting it on a friend has pcos and struggles with losing weight.

I have been doctors and been with the weight place there but they dont understand i have a food diary which i take but they not sure why im not losing any.

Is it worth going back to doctors to talk 2 him and can u get tablets or anything for it i do not have no more symtoms of PCOS oh and im 19 please help me im losing my self esteem i use be able go out and never worry what 2 wear now i go out covered up

  1. you should have your thyroid checked that ofter causes people to gain weight and not be able to lose it...if it is underactive they can treat it!!

    If it were PCOS u probably would have other symptoms...but you could have your hormone levels checked to be sure!


  2. it really doesn't sound like pcos, you usually have more symptoms that just putting on weight. I would go back to the doctors though and explain you situation, maybe he will run some tests to rule other possibilities out.

  3. What is your menstral cycles like? Are they regular or not, heavy, med or light flow? How long does your menstration last? These could help either rule out or perhaps point to PCOS. However your best bet is to go back to you GP and discuss it further with a professional. If he has any concers he may refer you to a gynacologist, or you may request to see one.

    Lets not forget hun, that even  though you may not feel comfortable at a size 16, it is the average in the UK, so chin up. All you can do is rule things out and take it from there
