Question:

Could increasing arable land help reverse global warming?

I was wondering if evaporating sea water by using solar energy and moving it into desert regions using solar energy could be used to aerate deserts and decrease the rate of global warming. I think energy capture and use could also be achieved by the overall process (new rivers & dams)?

  1. Global warming itself has increased arable land.  The midwest US isn't covered by glaciers due to global warming.

  2. Umm, yes--but not the way you describe.  The value would be if such regions were planted with trees or other vegitation that would take CO2 out of the atmosphere.

But it would be a waste of time if we don't stop adding more by burning massive amounts of fossil fuels. That has got to go.

  3. This would decrease albedo, thereby leading to more warming.

  4. While we can decrease the rate of Global warming, I don't think that we will ever to reverse it.

However Israel has shown the technology for turning desert into a productive use of land.

That is trickle irrigation, and not flooding the land.

The best use for evaporated water from the sea by solar enercy is for drinking water.
