Question:

Could it be Prostate Problems...?

I'm very embarrassed to be writing about this, so I'm going to try to be as mature about it as I can when addressing it.

I'm a 16 year old male and for the past few months have noticed a spot below my s*****m that is extremely red and somewhat slippery (even when washed). It causes me extremely intense itching and I believe it bleeds a little bit (possibly why it is slippery). When I do itch it, it causes a lot of satisfaction (in a non-sexual way, as in, when you have something REALLY itchy and scratch it) but also stings after that feeling.

I don't know at all what it could be, whether it's harmful, means nothing and is normal for 16 year olds, or what, but it's getting me concerned and if it's something bad I'd like to catch it before it gets too serious.

Sexual contact has not been anything past kissing, so I'm almost positive it's not an STD.

Thanks so much for reading and please try to be mature about this :)

  1. Please go and see your doctor.  It may be a cyst that needs attention.  Prostate problems occur in older males and include pain when passing water, feeling the need to pass water but not being able to, and sometimes a delay in urinating.

Speak to your doctor and tell him your concerns,

  2. Hello Bart,

I'm sure that it is nothing to do with your prostate. As it is very itchy, it could be a fungal infection, which is a common problem, or it could be an infected hair follicle. I would get some Canestan ointment from the chemist and used as advised. Any anti-fungal will do. They are usually kept with the foot treatments as treatments for athlete's foot. If it doesn't settle with this, see the doctor as you may need an antibiotic for a little while.  Good luck.
