Im 38 weeks pregnant and i lost my mucus plug this afternoon. I started having some mild tightening feelings in my lower abdomen so i called my doctor and was told to go to Labor and Delivery. Once there they checked and i was 1cm dilated and 60% effaced. They monitored my contractions however they are not very close together. On the monitor my strongest contraction went to a 70. They sent me home because im only 1cm dilated. So im wondering how soon i could go into "active" labor and be abel to be admitted. Ohh and the doctor on Monday stripped my membranes. Also I know the contractions were not braxton hicks, the RN told me they were more than that. i asked my RN if she thought i would make it to my due date, which is September 5th, she laughed and said "Oh no i dont think so, i wouldnt count on that."

  1. It definitely sounds pretty close - especially if you've lost your mucus plug! That's a great sign! With both my boys, I was only 1 cm dilated when I went in, so I don't think that matters too much.

Make sure your hospital bag is packed ... I would say by tomorrow, you'll be in active labor. Good luck! :)

  2. I think labor is right around the corner for you.. Hope you have your hospital bag packed and ready to go. I'd say probably in about 3-4 days MOST!! They say when u lose ur mucus plug, that it has nothing to do with labor but the more people I talk to, I'm noticing that seems to be false. I lost mine and my water broke like 2 days later. (i did have some show that afternoon b/4 my water broke) Just try and time the contractions so you won't get told to go home every time you go to the hospital. Because that is enough to get you frustrated!! But personally, I think you will go soon.. Good Luck and Congrats!!

  3. Hello my due date is today.. i went to the Doc Thursday and i was 1cm dilated.. she only stripped some of my membranes cause it was very painful! (lol) I lost all of Mucus Plug (more so a Bloody Show). i just stopped bleeding  4 hours ago! My contractions aren't that close either! My Doc said it can happen anytime, she advised me to walk! Good Luck!

  4. Oh my. You had better have you bags packed! You could go anytime. Once the plug is out, that's when labor begins. I was in labor for over 12 hours and so was my daughter. It's different with everyone. But when they start getting hard and your belly is really tight, I'd go right back to the hospital. It varies with each person on how fast you dilate. The stronger the contractions the more you're dilating. Good Luck! (My cousin just had a baby at 5:20 am this morning.) She labored all day yesterday before going in.

  5. every1s different....  i did da mucus plug thing wen i was in labor 14 hrs later i ad my son.......... but it sound like it aint gona b far  congrats to u :)

  6. It could be very soon. I've had 3 & it never failed when i was what your describing, i went into labor quick. Within a day or 2. you may be different, we all are but get some sleep tonight, you might have a baby tomorrow.

  7. It sounds like you may have that baby soon!  After you loose your mucus plug, it could be 2 hrs or 2 weeks. It just depends. You could go into active labor any time now! When it does happen, once you feel some contractions, time them and see how much time is in between each one. You should then call your doctor and tell him that information and he will tell you a when to come in. For me it was when my contractions were 5 minutes apart, but it depends on how far away from the hospital you are and othere things. But 70 is definately a very strong contraction. So I wouldn't think it will be much longer until you would go into labor. Congratulations on your baby and I hope you have a great easy delivery (:
