Could living in a hot sunny place like Arizona change my skin color permanently?

i'm white. i need some color but i don't know if staying outside on sunny days could be dangerous to my skin in the state of Arizona, and any ways would that be permanent? cuz i don't see any chance of me gettin a nice tan in the future.

I moved to a warm climate and I'm tanned all the year now. We have loads of sunshine and it is warm in winter. I used to be white & pasty, but no more.
