so many selections. number 3 double quarter pounder. number 9 ten chicken nuggets. number 1 the big mac! this "big" sandwich is sometimes considered the heart and soul of mcdonalds. what makes the mac different from the other burger choices such as the quarter and double quarter pounder (royale w/cheese)? what makes it better and unique? could mcd's survive without the big mac daddy? opinions everyone! personally, i think the double quarter pounder is bigger than big mac.

  1. I bet not, they are famous for their big mac.

  2. I agree with LeAnder. They could survive on the fries alone. Are you kidding? Of course they could survive without the Big Mac. The Big Mac is c**p.

  3. yes, they could survive on the fries alone.

  4. Sure, they would just devlop a different signature sandwich. Something would be thought of.

The quarter pound double cheeseburger is bigger than the Big Mac.

  5. sure the dbl qtr lb is bigger but it lacks the "2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun" appeal.

  6. We could survive without the Big Mac, but not the double cheese burgers.

  7. They would survive.  I've noticed we always sell more double cheeseburgers than anything else.

  8. yes but it would defo cut down business alot

  9. NO ROYALE WITH CHEESE GOT DA SPECIAL SAUCE YO!...LOVE DAT SAUCE!

  10. they could withstand the loss of the big mac..there are so many items to choose from..

  11. I have worked at McDonald's for the last three and a half years.

While the Big Mac may be a symbol of McDonald's worldwide, it is is no way near our highest selling product. A recent article from the Sydney Morning Herald announced that of the 1.2 million Australian customers served in 2007, the cheeseburger was the highest selling product on the menu.

From my own personal experience, I also believe that while the Big Mac is popular, it is not our highest selling burger.

Since the introduction of our new made-to-order system, burgers which customers previously had to wait to be made especially for them are now available much more quickly. The biggest example would be the Double Quarter Pounder (yes I am strongly disagreeing with the opinion of the former McDonald's employee above). We sell many of these burgers every day as customers don't have to wait as long as they did when the burgers were prepared and stored in a holding area.

The reason why the Big Mac is the symbol of McDonald's is because it is so different from every other burger out today. It is the only burger to have a extra piece of bun in between two meat patties and you can't forget that great sauce. Mmmmm...

    NIKISPITTIE:

Believe it or not but McDonald's sells more coffee that Starbucks and has actually reduced their profits in the last few years. People like convenience and coffee tastes great wherever you go.

  12. You have to understand that the Big Mac was only introduced in the 1970's and that McDOnalds did well for many years before that. Also, Ronald McDonald is a mentally disturbed s*x offender.

  13. yes, they could survive, and what is special about the big mac is the special sauce

  14. McDonalds thrives because it focuses its advertising almost entirely on the children.

The Big Mac is there mostly for parents who finally gave in to the kiddies.

As long as they have happy meals and cheap double cheeseburgers, they'll be around.  Lose the focus and their hold on the kids, they lose their business.

  15. i dont believe so... i worked a Maccas for a year and a half.. we sold hundreds of Big Mac's each day.. quaters and double quarters were rarely sold.. maybe around 30 of them a day.. double quarters sold even less... but i guess it depends..

  16. Yes, I think that McDonald's could survive without the Big Mac sandwich.

When McDonald's took the Double Cheeseburger off the Dollar Menu, they experienced a drop in overall sales, so that's the burger that "makes them or breaks them".

  17. They could survive without it, as long as they keep the prices for their other items.

I consider McDonald's to be the fast food that is farthest from gourmet, but their prices are so low that I choose them very often.

The competition blows out McDonald's as far as taste goes, but they're also more expensive.

  18. yea they have ssoo much food 2 choose from

and with those new lattes tons of money.

loljust kidding they are just trying to be big in the coffee industry not gonna happen
