Could my TV melt or get ruined?

we moved here about 2.5 months ago, and haven't had the time to move all of our extra stuff inside the house. The truck I don't really use has been sitting in the hot sun in California for a couple of months. I know it gets well over 100 degrees in the truck, probably 110-120. One of our tv's has been in there the entire time because at the moment we have no place for it... My question is, do you think the heat could have damaged the tv set? it isn't a plasma, i am sure that would be ruined in the heat... it's just a regular tv, glass screen etc. we have a bunch of old CD's in there too, and i have looked at them, they are okay, they haven't melted. Do you think the tv is ruined. ?

  1. no way to know unless the glass is cracked or you plug it in and try it.  if you value the tv bring it in before it gets stolen or "melts" (it wont melt the plastic or solder that keeps the electronics together.)

  2. No I don't think it's ruined.

Old tube type TVs can usually take a lot of punishment, and a couple of months at 120F shouldn't do much to one of them.

The only question is humidity. If you think it was real humid inside the truck, you want to make sure the TV drys out really good before you plug it in.

As far as any other electronics that were stored at 120F, batteries are probably the most sensitive electronic components. Might be a good idea to replace any non-rechargeables rather than wait to see if they leak.
