Question:

Could my cat be sick?

We left my cat alone for a few days while we were on vacation, and when we returned, we found a few piles of cat throw up around the house, (about one pile per day that we were gone), and since then, she has been throwing up semi-consistently and has had diarrhea. Also, whenever she purrs, it sounds muted and hoarse, and whenever she tries to meow, it comes out very quiet, and hoarse, like her purrs. Usually she has a very strong meow, so I know this isn't normal. We are going to take her to a vet, but I was just wondering what these symptoms could possibly be.

Also, her sister, who was alone with her, seems fine, and we have not changed the cat's diets in anyways.

Thanks to whoever answers!

  1. She may have eaten something she shouldn't have.  Could she have gotten into anything that could be toxic?  Hopefully she sees the vet soon.  I hope she feels better!  Good luck!

  2. Yes your cat could be sick, it could be a dog, it could be an Ostrich, it could be a lot of things.

  3. She might have gotten into something that was toxic to her system, maybe dug in the garbage or drank from the toilet?  I know if you put those blue things in the toilet those are toxic to animals, and my cats have drank from the toilet even when they have a full thing of water!  I'm sorry, hope she will be okay.

  4. as it is with dogs, a cats nose should be moist and cool to the touch.  if it is, she is fine. if it is dry, she is sick.  not to worry a kitty can get a cold.  my vet told me to give mine childrens cold medicane only 0.8ml, it really works.  also stay away from dry food for now since her throat is obviously bothering her, go for the canned food. good luck!

  5. she probably ate something that she couldnt digest, look around your house and see if anything is tore or half eaten. Good luck with the vet:)

  6. It could just be a bug that she caught or some cats are sensitive when their owners leave for a few days and they get sick. Did you leave plenty of food and water? Or did you have someone take care of them?
