  1. I'm using a Vista and the only trouble I'm having is with game. If you have 2 or more computers, then you should switch at least one to Vista, because it *is* much better, but leave one with xp to use program that just cannot adapt to Vista.

  2. See the problem isnt with ur ram its your processor no offence but u wont run vista cause celeron is junk and old c**p.  U wont be able to run it smoothly if you want to upgrade to vista get an intel core 2 duo or amd athlon x64 even if you have  pc with 4b and celeron its still junk celeron is the crappiest processor out there.

  3. Stay with XP. Vista is getting a very bad rep. for what problems it has. People are down grading to XP because it has less problems. Save yourself the headache, stay with XP.

  4. Judging by the specs your computer should be a ble to handle Vista, providing its running smoothly.

You would be better off however sticking with XP, it's not that Vista is a terrible OS(SP 1 has done wonders for it!!)But XP will run alot quicker on your system.

  5. i wouldnt! i have a brand new laptop with pretty good specs and mine runs slow with vista!

  6. it will perform fine with vista but really if you have xp stick with it vista is all bells and whistles but is not really much different xp it has some benefits like increased security (supposedly) and faster searching but if you have and know xp i'd say stick with it as it is more stable than vista on the whole

the only draw back you may experience with vista is your processor as it is quite slow for vista

  7. Your computer can definitely handle Vista.  It now comes down to a matter of preference.

Vista is great if you install it clean without all the bloatware etc that comes with factory made computers.  I've been running Vista since it came out and have had very little problems (most of which were driver problems that have been fixed).

Vista is faster, more secure and is the future.  If you are comfortable with XP and dont want the hassle of learning new things, than stay there.

  8. What's the point? Microsoft have abandonded it already! Windows 7 is due to be released in 18 months. At least XP ran for 7 years before Vista came out.

  9. Possibly but not certainly. Microsoft has an assessment tool to run before installing vista. Unless your machine has a large Vista label stuck on it, run the tool. Don't install vista unless the tool says that it is OK.

The specs are about the minimum for vista but compatibility is critical. If you do install vista, additional memory would improve the speed; 3GB is standard for new systems.

  10. Stick with XP, at the moment Vista in a pain in the rear, there's very little software, can't get Bluethooth to work with it to name just two of the problems.

Why did I change, my old computer fried itself so I didn't have to much choice.

  11. 1. Yes, it could handle it.

    2. Define "better performance." The only indication people have of performance is how long it takes to complete any given task. For example, copying a file. In XP, a file transfer is indicated as being complete before the it is actually done. You'll see the symptoms of this when you try to "Safely remove" a thumb drive. Windows Vista is more accurate in when it displays the copy / transfer as being complete.

  12. For a 3 year machine you have a good spec and it certainly will handle Vista. I personally like Vista, but being an IT tutor always do appreciate it when new software versions come out. The only reason people don't like new things is they don't have the patience to learn how to use them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Vista, and on the security front, it is excellent.
