Question:

Could my daughter be anemic?

My daughter is 20 months old and weighs 22 pounds. She's very small and thin for her age. She is very pale -- you can see the veins in her belly when you lift her shirt. She naps a lot and would eat all day if I let her.

People (even strangers) have asked me if she is anemic because apparently she posesses some characteristics. Should I get her tested? My doctor never mentioned anything, so it never entered my mind until recently.

  1. You need to get her tested soon.. good luck.

  2. Well definitely get her tested, but usually anemic children don't want to eat. She could just be fair skinned too, the belly veins are pretty common, I'm pretty dark, and my daughter is somewhat tan but I can still see her veins there. Good Luck!

Edit: constant dark circles under the eyes are a sign too.

  3. im anemic. i would get her tested. its not a big deal, just give her lots of food with iron in it!
