Alittle back ground info

Hes a lab/dachshund mix about a year old.I'm not really sure,we found him. He showed up at my friends house and didnt leave, we put flyers up and everything. He was staying at my friends house untill i moved. He was an outside dog pretty much and had 4 other dogs to play with.

we have had him at our house for about a week. He was doing fine for the first few days he ate okay and pooped outside but now he hasnt really eaten anything for the past 2 days and keeps pooping (No diarrhea or throwing up) in the house at night, and just lays around sleeping. I take him for walks through out the day for about an hour and a half in total.((Also he will play and rough house with me for alittle bit then walk off lay down and...sigh??)) (I cant take him for walk for THAT long cause he has little legs and gets exhausted if we walk for more then 45 mins) And I have tried a few different dog foods(dry, canned, mixed his dry with bacon/sausage grease (He didnt eat it.I know its not good for him) but nothing. He is house broken and has never done anything like this at my friends house.

  1. YOu must take the dog to a Vet!!!! asap!!!!

he probably needs shots / medication!

If he doesnt eat after 2-3 days thats NOT good!!!!

Please take care of him before its too late!!!

I waited 4 days with my puppy and it was too late she

    passed away!

  2. I think he misses his buddies.  He would probably be happier and more entertained if he had a puppy friend to hang out with.

  3. yea hes depressed try giving him lots of attention and give him a chance to get used to your house

hope he fells better good luck

  4. I have a dashund myself and he is 7 years old. At first i thought he was depressed, but as some dogs tend to sleep more then others. Try one food cause chainging it all the time he wont get used to one kind. He will eat when he is hungery. If he doesn't eat the food you give him in 4 days take him to the vet.

  5. Dogs can get depressed, but I would take him to a vet to be sure.  The first sign that your pet isn't feeling good is that he will stop eating.

  6. you kicked my dog!  YOU SICK ****!

  7. Sounds more sick than depressed, I think you know where to go

  8. He might be constipated. I had a friend who's puppy ate a paint ball and died from it. It was so sad. Grease will mess up his tummy either way and could also cause him to want to eat his own poo too. Try mixing dry food w/ wet Alpo Puppy food. Most dogs will eat it in a heart beat. Good luck.

  9. Probably misses the other dogs, if possible get him a friend fron the pound or see if there are any dogs in around to play with or visit your friends dogs.

  10. He is probably just getting used to his new environment! I know I got a puppy a little over a month ago, but he was 8 months old. He had been living with a man who then had to give him back to the breeder in order to leave for Iraq. He had been living with pack. When we adopted him, he refused to eat or go to the bathroom for the first couple of days. My vet said this was normal and that once he got used to us that he would start being playful. Maybe you need to socialize him with other dogs! Try taking him to a dog park close to your house and get him to interact there.

  11. First and formost, do not feed your pets any kind of grease or fatty foods as this can cause serious problems with their pancreas.  It's always best to stick with a good quality dry food and mix a little wet with it if you are having a hard time getting him to eat or as as treat.

I happen to deal with different animals on a daily basis because I am a professional petsitter and have seen dogs get depressed quite often, but they usually get over it with some TLC, lots of affection & praise!

Almost every time I do a new client there is a little bit of depression when the pet realizes their family is not coming back soon.  If they are on a regular routine for feeding, excercise, etc. I stick as close to it as possible and they adapt just fine.  Since you don't know what your pets routine is, you have to establish one of your own and stick with it.  Also frequent visits to your friend who has the other dogs would be very helpful.  You may want to consider getting another pet in the near future.  By keeping him an a regular routine every day you will find that you will earn his trust and love.  Animals require a lot of attention like people.

    Good luck!
