Question:

Could my stomach have shrunken?

I went to Belize City a month ago, and came back with a bad case of stomach flu and was also diagnosed with a parasite. In the month that I was sick, I really didn't eat much. Just bread and applesauce, fruits and veggies in VERY small portions. Now that I am feeling better (after taking Cipro for a week), it is very hard for me to eat. After eating a bagel, I'm absolutely stuffed. I feel bloated, and can't eat for nine or ten hours. But, before I went to Belize, I could pig out all day! Now, eating a tiny portion of food is very hard for me, and I feel nauseous afterwards. Could my stomach have shrunken? And if so, how would I go back to eating regularly again? I'm a little worried, so any help would be appreciated.

  2. Yes.

You will just gradually gain a greater appetite back.

Eat a little more each day then you did before.

    Don't be worried.

  5. I've heard that stomachs are capable of both shrinking and stretching. Or maybe you just haven't regained your appetite. I would say that it may be worth a trip to the doctor though.

  6. I was told by my nutrition instructor that stomachs don't shrink. Period.

  7. your stomach can always  stretch out so it cant shrink go to doctors and check it out
