  1. It very well could be causing runny bowel movements. It such a thin milk that it just runs right through the babies body. I know alot of other milks like regular similac milk with iron can actually cause constipation because the milk is so thick...Anyways, what im saying is Nutriamgen is a thin milk and therefore goes through the babies body more quickly. If she has just been switched to it, give it a few more days to see how it agrees with your daughter. Your daughters body may need to get used to it. Good luck.

And-If all else fails get a second opinion if your Dr cant explain whats causing the runny bowel movements. Also-Make sure and give her some Pedialyte to keep her hydrated while she is having diarreah.

  2. Our 5 month old has been on nutramigen since she was 1.5 months old because of constipation... it did really turn it around though and her p**p got much much thinner. SO yes, it may have made it worse. I think its because the nutramigen is so much more broken down to begin with. I'm not sure why the doctor put yours on nutramigen for diarrhea. I suppose it had a chance of working though in case there was a digestive issue that was causing it. Maybe talk to him about switching back if it hasn't made a difference? That stuff is awful expensive (as I'm sure you've seen) and if you didn't *have to use it*, I'm sure the regular Enfamil would be fine. No point in having her on something hypoallergenic for nothing. I'd check with him though.

Our daughter has had intermittent diarrhea the past few weeks too but we chalked it up to teething. Has she been drooling a lot more lately? Teething can cause drooling, swallowing excessive saliva can cause diarrhea.
