Question:

Could she have Chicken Pox?

I took my daughter to Urgent Care today. She is covered with little blisters that itch & are multiplying like crazy. The Dr. swabbed her for Strep & when that came back negative she said that she must have a viral infection that is causing them. I've never heard of such a thing.

I looked up some pics of Chicken Pox & that kinda looks like what she has. She's had the vaccine though. Can she still get it?

  1. I feel you need not worry.  But let her not mingle with other children for a couple of days till you are sure, so that if it is chickenpox, doesn't spread; and she too gets some rest.

I would suggest, put her on a full liquid feed (fruit juices, barley, milk, soft drinks, etc. - with variety) - no solid food, and make her drink a lot of water.  If the blisters be some kind of allergy or any kind of skin disorder, water therapy would be the first best thing you should give.  And keep her in complete rest.  If after 2 days she is not alright, take her to a good hospital.  Praying for her recovery soon.

  2. You really need to take her to a " real " doctors office preferable her pediatrician.  This may be an allergic reaction or a skin disease.  The vaccination for chicken pox is not always 100% so it could be that also.  As you can tell it may be a number of things but the best thing you can do is go to her primary care physician.
