My cane corso has been l*****g the Akita's ear for about 15 min. now. The akita, Kane doesn't seem bothered by it if anything i would say he likes the attention, but could something be wrong with his ear that would cause Roxy to be doing this. I don't see any signs of an ear infection. He does have some bites from flies but nothing severe.

  1. My dog has kind of long floppy ears and he used to have recurring problems with ear infections.  Then I got a second dog and I noticed she spent a lot of time l*****g his ears.  That was 5 years ago and he hasn't had an ear infection since.  I asked my vet and he said he's seen it before.  There's something in the saliva that helps prevent infection.

  2. could just be l*****g the fly bites and it feels good to the akita.

  3. My adult rotties does this to my corso puppy. I think it is kind of a mothering gesture. When the puppy gets irritating and she is corrected then my rottie will l**k her ears and walk off.

It is also the way that pack members interact by cleaning each other and submissive dogs will l**k the muzzles dominant dogs to show submission.
