Could some one help me out explaining NAV calculation used in the fund industry?

  1. A fund's NAV, or Net Asset Value, is equal to the Total Assets less Total Liabilities.  It's mostly stated as the market value of total assets (like stock, for example) less liabilities.  This way unrealized gains are factored into the asset value, which shows that the fund managers are earning returns.
