Question:

Could somebody help me interpret this dream?

Recently, a close friend of mine lost her husband unexpectedly. The other night, I dreamed that my friend came to me with a potted white rose, and it got tangled in my hair. I know that in some eastern cultures, the color white represents death and mourning, but I can't figure out the rest. Can anybody help?

  1. Well...  It was your friend who's still alive so I won't worry about it.

And even if it were someone else, it's probably all the funeral and trauma stress that doing that to you.

She must've been a really close friend.

  2. It sounds to me that you have not accepted his death because of some mix feelings you had for him (tangled in your hair).  It could also mean that your feelings for him were such that you felt guilty because he was the husband of your close friend.

  3. "Tangling in hair" reflects the hair as symbolizing records.

Your friend gives you--shares with you--her feelings, which are symbolized by the potted (as in a casket) white rose.  Unless you were romantically attracted to her husband, the s*x interpretation is probably beside the point of her emotionally sharing and you emotionally caring (tangled in your records of her and him).

She might appreciate "The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis, "Testimony of Light," Helen Greaves, "In Heaven So on Earth," M. Scott Peck, M.D., and even "The Masters and Their Retreats," Mark Prophet and "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton.  She could be grieving for months, off and on, and her sharing any feelings and thoughts with you would be helpful for her.  Perhaps your dreaming conscious, which is your waking subconscious, is "warning" you about becoming too easily involved or entangled with the grieving and sorrow.  The fact that she is a close friend indicates that there may be close commiseration.
