Well here's there story. I was thinking about getting a vinegaroon. I heard they weren't that hard to take care of and since I got an extra ten gallon tank and a UV lamp in my garage, I was thinking of puting it to use. I always wanted a whipscorpion, since I already have a tarantula and had an emperor scorpion, I want t o have an experience with one of these guys. They seem like pretty interesting arachnids and my parents agreed on getting one. I heard on the internet that they were not very hard pets to take care of and don't secrete any toxic venom (thought it was neat that these guys sprayed natural vinegar). I know I'll need large crickets sand and a heat mat for it, but I want to know, is there any breeder or pet store that sells these guys. I kept trying to look for breeding and pet stores that have them and I can't find anything. I read up on them and I know that these guys are i nthe pet trade. Please can someone at least tell me some breeder, petstore, or online store that sells them

  1. Vinnies are extremely cool. Unfortunately, there are not many people that are captive rearing them. I have had 2 females hatch young in the past. They lay the eggs in a case and hold them up under their abdomen and will not feed while incubating. I found the key to success was to place butcher paper around the glass tank with a small flap to be able to check her every 2 days. Any disruption/ disturbance may cause them to drop the eggs.

A heat mat is not necc. as long as you have a light (50-75 W.) over one end of the tank. Dampened Canadian peat moss is an excellent substrate, allows for burrowing and is very sanitary. Make sure to keep a shallow water dish available, clean it every day to avoid bacteria build up. Fine mist the cage 1-2x/day with R.O. or springwater. Keep humidity high (50-60% at least)

Check Hatari Invertebrates,(Portal Arizona) for available stock. Very reputable, great shipping and reasonable ($20.00 + s/h currently for an adult Vinnie.) Hatari's been around for quite some time and I've always been very pleased with what I ordered.

p.s. paws_and_obey, consider yourself reported. Have some respect please.

  2. I have no idea what a vinegaroon is... but contract your local pet store and ask them if they could order one in for you.
