Could someone explain how rocco was able to "drop the ball" back on the course?

Normally there isnt thousands of ppl watching and they are standing where his ball woulda landed and he woulda had shot from so he played it where USGA set for him to drop, im sure it wasnt an advantage,

it would be like hitting the ball from the side of the hole its the same thing

Prior to that he hit his ball directly next to the grand stand where the audience is. Since this is a man made structure that would get in the way of his swing, he was able to drop the ball inside the drop circle.

His "original" shot was right next to the stands, so prior to the tourn. starting, they designated a drop zone in case this happened because the golfers cannot take a full swing in the area next to the stands.
