Could someone explain international/u.s. customs to me?

Question

i will be ordering some stuff online from korea and china and i was wondering if these things will be caught up in customs and what exactly that means. i hear there are charges that could be placed on the packages, but how do you know that its chaught up and how do you pay them?

it is really worring me.

First thing is,

If you are ordering online from US, they won't allow you to buy any illegal thing. They will charge you only for the legal things and which they can ship to you in US.

So do not worry if you are not doing anything legal and buying from genuine website. They do not charge anything extra for it.
