Could someone give me the recipe and direction for chinese dumpling?

I have a friend who is Asian and just served a dumpling to me the other day. She used ground pork (no spices) added some shredded raw potato to it, egg and fresh garlic and salt and pepper (kind of like a meatloaf mixture) She then put about 1/4 to 1/2 cup in the middle of the phi lo dough square and wrapped the dough up around it. She steamed it until done. This time she served it with a piece of cooked fresh broccoli on each one for color but said she has also added shrimp on the top also. They were Delicious. My thought were you could also add any spices you wanted or change the meat to ground beef or turkey. Good Luck
