I have a Samsung HT-X40 home theater. My front left and right speakers and my subwoofer are the only ones working. Is there another way to get the rest of my speakers to work? I have all plugged in, I went to the menu and tested them to see if they were in the right in the right ports and that they actually worked, I also went to the menu and all of my speakers say "SMALL". but on the dvd player it says that only my left and right speakers and the subwoofer are connected. i don't have the original remote I have a Philips universal remote (SRU3003WM/17). DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO!?

  1. The SOURCE of audio actually determines what speakers are presently used....

But if you have your unit set for Phantom Surround instead of AUTO or Dolby Surround, then you actually NEED to get the HT-X40 remote to properly set it up !

It's worth the money for the proper remote ....just google your model with the word remote.

And if you don't get a hit, try Samsung HT-X40 or just Samsung to find the customer website....

They should be selling that remote.

  2. It sounds like you don't have Surround sound turned on your receiver.  Also ensure what you are playing/watching (DVD or TV) has DVD 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 Dolby surround sound.
