  1. I'm afraid it's not going too well so far. I see no obvious marriage for them. Do you know what part of the UK they lived/were born?

    I'll keep plugging away....

Edit: The extra info was useful as I have now found their marriage record, but not in the UK - in India:

    Presidency of Marriage BENGAL

      Marriage Year 1863

      Husband First Names Thomas

      Husband Surname Yarrow

      Wife First Names Catherine

      Wife Surname O'Keefe

    This info is from :

    http://www.search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/...

Now, I'll have a look for what I can find pre-1863 in the UK.

    2nd Edit:

This is by no means certain, but I looked for 1862 deaths for O'Keefe, and if you are sure he died in 1862, there are only three options - Timothy, Dennis and James.

I then looked at the 1861 census and found a married couple (childless) by the name of Catherine and Timothy OKeefe living in Surrey. I couldn't see a likely Catherine with a Dennis or James, so I concluded that this may be the one.

    Name: Catherine Okeefe

    Age: 23

    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1838

    Relation: Wife

    Spouse's Name: Timothy

    Gender: Female

Where born: St. Saviour, Surrey, England

    Civil Parish: Southwark St Saviour

    Ecclesiastical parish: St Peter

    County/Island: Surrey

    Country: England

    Registration district: St Saviour Southwark

    Sub-registration district: St Saviour

    Household members

    Catherine Okeefe 23

    Timothy Okeefe 29

    Here's the death for Timothy: dec q 1862 O'Keefe  Timothy     Shoreditch  1c 162

    3rd Edit:

Funnily enough I can't find a marriage at all between a Catherine and a Timothy Keefe at all in the indexes. All I can think is that they could have married elsewhere, which obviously makes life a bit difficult in terms of finding a maiden name for her.

I can see one possible marriage on  http://www.familysearch.org between a Tim Keefe and 'Cath. Keefe' on  13 Feb 1858 at  Roman Catholic, Dromtarriff, Cork, Ireland. The 1861 census says Timothy was born St. Thomas, Ireland, and not knowing much about Irish geography I'm not sure whether it ties in. It doesn't give her maiden name anyway, so it's not an awful lot of use.

I suppose her son John's birth certificate might be of some use for finding her maiden name?

With regards to Thomas Yarrow, it's pretty much impossible to narrow down who he is in the 1861 census, or even if he's on the census at all, without more info. I don't know how much info would be held on his marriage certificate, but I imagine fibis (website where I found the marriage) might be able to help more.

If there's anything else I can do for you or that you'd like me to look up on ancestry just send e a message.

    Good luck.
