Could someone please explain what Jesus has to do with NASCAR? ?

They tend to use his name a lot - where in the Bible does it say that Jesus endorsed race car driving?

Or did I miss that one when I (usually) fell asleep in Sunday school as a kid?

It's just that a lot of the NASCAR folks are Christians and it tends to spill over into their sport. And maybe the fact that the south (Bible Belt) is the origin and major source of NASCAR explains some of it.

There are people who believe that we only die when God wants us to.  Race car accidents are no exception, they believe.  btw, George Harrison, a Hindu and former guitarist/vocalist for The Beatles, was very much into race cars.  He did not die in a car accident, RIP
