  1. They're still 4 back. If both teams win, no games are gained by the other team. If the first place team wins and the other team loses, the other team falls a game behind. If the first place team loses and the other team wins, the other team gains a game. If one team plays and the other doesn't, if the playing team wins, they gain a half game, if they lose, the lose half a game. Simple, right?

  2. they are 1 game less back from the red sox, but it only matters that tampa bay is in first.  It measures how far back you are from first, not from the red sox.  If the yankees win tomorrow, AND tampa bay loses, then they are 3 games back.

  3. The team in second doesn't matter at all.

    ..Soo if the Rays were 52-42

    and the Yankees were 49-45 the Yankees would be 3.0 GB

    GB=Games back

    If both the Rays and the Yankees played and the Rays lost and the Yankees won the Yankees would be 2 GB.

    ...easy....Right??

    So bottom line is that the team between the Yankees and the first place team doesnt matter at all.

    Hope I helped

  4. tampa bay is the division leader so they won today and the yankees won today so that means there 4 if the standings from yesterday said that they were four out then there still four out either way. Now if today the rays would of lost and the yankees would of won then they would be 3 games out.

  5. Put simply - every win for your team gets you a half game, every loss costs you a half game.

    The Yankees won. That means they pick up a half game on both teams. The Rays won, which means they get that half game back from the Yankees. The Red Sox lost, which means the Red Sox will lose a half game.

    SO, the Yankees stayed even with the Rays, and gained a full game on the red Sox.

  6. No because they played the same amount of games if the Rays play another game and Yankees don't then if the Rays win or lose they'll be 4.5 games up or 3.5 games up
