This is a tv on ebay at the moment, and im just wondering what i will need to do to fix it if i purchase it. Is it worth it? how much would you pay?

FAULTY Hitachi 42PMA400A 42" Plasma Display.

Will not turn on when cold. Briefly heating Xsus board with hair dryer will result in normal operation.

Display has some burn-in as can be seen in photo.

This does NOT have a built in tuner, it has two VGA inputs.

Does not come with remote or stand.

Item has some scratches and marks.

Sold as is in faulty condition. NO Guarantees.

  1. First of all, this is NOT a TV ... it is a plasma DISPLAY.  It was probably used in an industrial or retail setting showing some sort of repeating video.  There are many things wrong with it and I can't see spending any money on it.

1 - because it is a DISPLAY and not a TV, you don't have a tuner.  You will have to provide one for it.

2 - any tuner you do buy appears to need to have VGA output as the seller says "it has two VGA inputs"  Most tuners I am familiar with DO NOT come with VGA outputs which means any tuner you do find will probably be very expensive.

3 - burn-in means that a faint image is always on the screen, not something you would appreciate when trying to view programming.

4 - bad Xsus board that needs heating up before working.  I don't know how much an Xsus board is but if it were woth buying and replacing the person selling it would have done so instead of getting rid of the unit.

  2. go and buy a LCD SonyBravia 52inch for $92 at http://www.kcbidz.com
