  1. put simply, there is an area of georgia where both russians and georgians live. Some of the inhabitants were causing a load of trouble, so the georgians sent in their army to sort it out. Russia said that they were trying to kill all the russians and so they sent in their army.

Basically both sides are at fault, the russia really went too far, since they were invading territory that wasn't theirs with a massive amount of firepower. As well as that some people thing russia had been planning it for quite a while, since they were able to send in so many tanks and troops on such short notice.

  2. It's just a lovers spat. Left over hard feelings from the USSR.

  3. its very similar to the start of world war 2, so i wouldn't be too worried hahaha

  4. A major oil pipeline is in Georgia. Russia does not control it yet. The only pipeline it does not control, yet!

  5. the conflict is between georgian army and s.ossetian civilians:

    ossetian people say:

"Our people have been systematically exterminated for the past 19 years by the fascist Georgian regime, and their inhuman atrocities have been neglected by the world for the sake of geopolitical interest of the United States...

As of today, the major part of South Ossetia has been eradicated by Georgian aggressors. Our elderly, women and children continue to die. The total death toll is unknown as the Georgian side was opening heavy fire at those trying to help the wounded. Including children.""

russia acts as a peacekeeper according to treaty signed in 1992. it's such a big deal for 2 reasons:

1.over 2000civilians were killed by eorgian troops and over 34000 had to flee from their houses

2.american government openly support fascist regime in georgia

  6. Russia is trying to show it's neighbors that it calls the shots.  It's also trying to take control of oil pipelines going through Georgia to Europe so it controls all of the pipelines going to Europe from the east.

It's important because Georgia is a democratic nation, a US ally and a potential NATO member.  If Russia is allowed to take over Georgia then it can intimidate and control other nations and in essence build an empire under Russian control.  Russian imperial ambitions need to be stopped now.

  7. Georgia found out that stalin was g*y.. so georgia invaded

  8. Because this is a new chapter of a "Cold War" of twenty-first century with the first shot fired by Uncle Sam's puppy Georgia.
