Could someone who lives in america answer a question regarding bears?

Is it just on TV shows or is it true that bears come right up to people's homes? I have seen it on Sopranos and i have heard it mentioned on other American shows. If it is a problem, why do people still live in those areas?

Yes bear,,s will come right up to a home. However not all bear,s the one,s who have been feed by human.s in the past and have lost their fear of man. And if they are hungry and smell food. It gets to be a real problem in some places. Most bear,s are not a danger to human,s if respected. They will tear thing,s up if not scared away or killed.,

There have been reported cases of wild bears making their way to residential neighborhoods.  These are very rare cases and, when it happens, it's considered news.

I live in Wyoming where there are lots of mountains and wild animals, and YES it is true that bears will go up to people's homes. Usually doesn't happen unless they're in the country or mountains. It's not like they'll stroll right on in to a city or anything.

Bears follow food.  They are generally scared of humans, but if they feel there is a good enough reward, they will venture closer.  Living in NJ I have seen multiple instances of bears coming very close to houses and definitely tents.
