i need help with editing this paragraph.i am not fluent in english. i have to write a letter to award renewal commitee for why i couldnt meet the requirement of maintaining GPA of 6.0. i wrote the following, i need to write a formal letter. please tell me if there are things i need to change.

I was not able to maintain the GPA of 6.0 this year because I had difficulty adjusting to University studies. I was not used to self-studying. That’s why in my first semester my GPA was below 6.0. The course that I did worse on was Calculus because I didn’t learn some of the concepts that I needed to know from high school. I did a lot better in the second semester because I changed my style of studying. My grade for courses in the second semester was B. But since I did bad in my first semester, my overall GPA for fall/winter courses is 5.4. However, I repeated the calculus course this summer and received a good grade, so my new average is above 6.0. I plan to study more effectively for next year after learning from first year experience.

  1. This year, I was unable to maintain the GPA of 6.0 because of difficulty adjusting to University studies. I was not used to self studying, which is why my first semester GPA was below 6.0. I didn't do very well in Calcululs because I hadn't learned some of the concepts that I needed to know from high school. In the second semester, my grades improved overall to a B, because I changed my studying techniques. Because of first semester mistakes, my overall GPA for fall/winter courses is 5.4. However, I repeated the calculus course over the summer, and recieved a very satisfactory grade, so my new average is above 6.0. My first year experience has taught me how to study more effectively for next year.

  2. I was not able to maintain a GPA of 6.0 this year because I had difficulty adjusting to University studies. I was not used to self-studying. That’s why in my first semester my GPA was below 6.0. The course that I did worst on was Calculus because I didn’t learn some of the concepts that I needed to know from high school. I did a lot better in the second semester because I changed my style of studying. My grades for courses in the second semester were B's. But since I did badly in my first semester, my overall GPA for fall/winter courses is 5.4. However, I repeated the calculus course this summer and received a good grade, so my new average is above 6.0. I plan to study more effectively for next year after learning from this years experience.

  3. "The course that I did worse on was Calculus" This could use some revising. Possibly "Calculus was my worst course because"

"My grade for courses " Change this to "My average grade".

  4. Due to my difficulty of adjusting to university this year i was unable to maintain the GPA of 6.0. I was also unable to self study successfully; this was one main opponent to why my first semester GPA was below 6.0. During high school i did not grasp concepts that i needed to know in able to do well in calculus, so in that subject i did not do any justice towards my intellect. After realizing this i adapted my studying style to my lifestyle in order to do better in calculus. This worked a treat and i manage to get my results up to B standards.Due to the fact i did not triumph in my first semester my overall GPA for fall/winter course is 5.4. However, i did indeed repeat the calculus course this summer and i received a good grade. I am happy to announce that my new average is above 6.0. Thanks to this experience i now plan to study more effectively the next year yet to come.

    i hope its ok

just check it carefully and change what you dont think goes well because after all im only in high school.

    xoxoxox

    good luck

  5. Thats fine, I wouldn't change it but if you were being very picky you could change

"The course that I did worse on was Calculus"

    to

"The course that I didn't do as well on was Calculus"

And "..semester was B. But since I did bad.."

    to

".. semester was B, but since I didn't do very well.."

hope you find the help your looking for

  6. Because of my difficulty adjusting to my University surroundings, I was not able to maintain my 6.0 GPA this year.  I was not used to studying alone, and my worst performance was in calculus because I didn't learn some of the concepts that I needed to know from high school.

However I did do better in the second semester due to a change in my style of studying.  My grade on the courses taken in the second semester was a B, but bedause of my poor performance in the first semester, my overall GPA for the fall/winter courses came to a 5.4.

I did manage to repeat the calculus course this summer finishing with a good grade, so my new average is above a 6.0.  I plan to study more effecitvely in the coming year after learning from this first-year experience.

  7. I was not able to maintain a GPA of 6.0 this year because I had difficulty adjusting to university studies, the reason being that I was not used to self-studying. Thusly, my first semester GPA was below 6.0. However, I changed my style of studying during the second semester, therefore improving my grades. I maintained a B average over the course of the second semester. Due to my poor performance during the first semester, my overall GPA for fall/winter courses is 5.4. However, I retook the calculus course that dropped my grade during the first semester this summer and received a better grade, so my new GPA is above 6.0. I plan to study more effectively for next year after learning from first year experience.

    Hope this helps.

    To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to explain why my GPA fell below the requirement of 6.0.  Being my first semester at school I found it harder than I expected to adjust to university studies and the added responsibilities that go along with it.  Learning how to pace my studies accordingly was a process of trial and error that I think I now have mastered.

The course I found most difficult was Calculus as I found that some of the concepts were unknown to me.  This made it especially difficult because, as you know, each concept builds upon the next.

I did much better my second semester as I adjusted more to university expectations.  I achieved an overall average of "B" however, that averaged in  with my first semester put my GPA at 5.4.  I repeated the calculus course over the summer and recieved a good grade which brought my GPA to the required 6.0.

My education is very important to me and I will continue to strive for my best in all of my studies.  I am very grateful for the award you gave me and respectfully ask for your continued support.

    Sincerely-

  10. Your text reads logically and your point is made.

The only obvious error would be in the choice of the word, "But since I did BAD", it should be "BADLY."

I might write your text differently but then it would be neither your style nor your words and could be easily detected as not your writing.

It's far better to say what you want, in your own words so that the reader can feel your sincerity.

Since you are not fluent in English, you have done an excellent job and I think it will be appreciated and understood by the reader.

  11. I was not able to maintain the GPA of 6.0 this year because of the difficulties I had adjusting to University studie skills. Self-studying is a new concept for me and it has taken some time for me to be comforable with it. This is the main reason my grade point average has dropped below 6.0. The course that I did worst in was Calculus and this is directly relating to the lack of knowledge I was provided in highschool. I did quite a bit better during the second semester once my study happits and skills became more intact. I ended the second semester with a B in each of my courses, however since I did do poorly in my first semester, my overall GPA for fall/winter courses is 5.4. I have repeated the calculus course this summer and received a better grade, and with that geade my grade point average has risen to above 6.0. I plan to study more effectively for next year after learning from this first year's experience.
